At the beginning of each year, Consumer and Business Services (CBS) releases a list of the most popular names for the past year.

In 2016, new parents were kind to family, friends and teachers as there weren’t any unusual spellings in the top ten names for boys or girls. However, one must never assume and CBS recommends that people continue to ask the question, “Can you spell that please?”

Popular choices were Oliver, Jack and William for boys and Charlotte, Olivia and Ava for girls. Khaleesi, despite predictions from social commentators, did not make the list!

So if you don’t know what to call your baby or you’d just like to be prepared for alternative spellings, read the list of the most popular baby names for boys and girls in 2016.
