You can find out how to register a death or apply for a death certificate below.

Anyone can register a death that has occured in South Australia.  A funeral director can do this on your behalf.

A death must be registered within 7 days of disposal of remains.

There is no charge for registration of a death.

For all but historical access, applicants are required to produce Proof of Identity at the time of application.

You can apply online for a death certificate or you can fill in an application form.

By post:          Cheque – payable to Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Office, money order or credit card details

Online:            Credit card
