Fees for South Australian Occupational Licences


 

Information regarding specific fees has been provided as a guide only. Please refer to your application form or your current year annual return for the for the fee you are required to pay.

Fees are subject to change on the 1 July, however, they may be amended at any time.

How do I pay?

Online payments

Go to cbs.sa.gov.au to make a payment by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only) online.
Select your licence type from the drop-down menu.

Enter your licence number and client ID which are located on your current periodic return.

You can update your postal and residential address, and supply current contact details while you make your payment.

Phone payments

Phone 1300 668 531 to make a payment by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only).

You must have your licence number and client ID which are located on your current periodic return

You will not be able to change your address at this time.

The payment slip does not need to be returned to this office if paying online or by phone. You MAY need to supply us with legislated information such as audit declarations, to fulfill your licence requirements.

Other options

Make cheque or money orders payable to the Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and attach to the front page of your renewal. Post to GPO Box 1719 Adelaide 5001; or
Lodge and pay in person at our Customer Service Centre located at 91 Grenfell Street and pay; or attend a regional Service SA Centre.

Do I need to do anything else?

Read your periodic return statement thoroughly to ensure you are complying with all your return requirements such as notifying us of any change of details, providing trust account audits or providing evidence of insurance.

Failure to forward this documentation, even if you make a payment, may result in a penalty being imposed and the licence/registration being cancelled.

Every ten years, part of your legislative obligations may be to submit an up to date photo for your licence card (for certain licence types). You will receive this request with your periodic return when your current photo reaches 10 years of age. Failure to provide a photo, even if you make a payment, may result in a penalty being imposed and the licence/registration being cancelled.

How often do I need to pay?

Your first annual return will fall due for payment eleven months after your licence/registration is granted. Except PGE workers, each year you will receive a periodic return notice which will advise you of the fee and request that you review your details and notify us of any change.

For PGE workers, you will receive a periodic return notice every three years.

What if I don’t pay?

If you fail to pay your annual return a penalty may be imposed and the licence/registration cancelled. Once a licence is cancelled, you will have to apply for a new licence if you wish to continue working.

What if my partner, supervisor or manager doesn’t pay?

If you are working in a partnership where you are limited to working with a specific person, all partners must be licensed and pay their periodic return.

If one partner fails to pay their required periodic licence fee, they will go through the penalty and cancellation process. If your partner’s licence is cancelled, you will be conducting your business outside of the scope of your licence. To avoid this situation, ensure that all partners pay their periodic fees on time, arrange to upgrade your licence or nominate a new partner.

If your supervisor (building contractors only) does not pay their periodic return, you will receive notice from us giving you a set period of time in which to nominate a new supervisor.

If your manager (land agents, security and investigation agents) fails to pay, they will go through the penalty and cancellation process. If your manager’s licence is cancelled, and you continue to conduct business you may be failing to meet your obligations under the relevant Act. To avoid this situation, ensure that all managers pay their periodic fees on time, or nominate a new manager.

The following fees are Goods and Service (GST) free, therefore a tax invoice will not be issued.
