Construction of houses

From 1 July 2020, new business qualification requirements will be introduced for anyone applying for a building work contractor’s licence to perform major residential building work, for example the construction of houses or additions. There will also be a requirement for these applicants to provide a certificate of eligibility for building indemnity insurance. These changes will help to raise industry-specific business knowledge in this important sector of the industry and improve financial adequacy assessment.

The additional business qualifications include units of competency relating to costing, construction planning, contract administration and dispute resolution.
