A one-stop-shop for consumer, licensee and tenancy matters has been opened by Consumer and Business Services (CBS).
Minister for Consumer and Business Services John Rau said the new CBS Customer Service Centre has opened in Grenfell Street and provides face-to-face advice and a range of services.
“The CBS Customer Service Centre is another move toward streamlining services and making them more efficient and accessible,” Mr Rau said.
“The Centre provides a central point where consumers, licensees, renters and landlords can go for services offered by Consumer and Business Services.
“Previously, people had to go to different places for many of these services – now they are all conveniently located in the one place.”
Services provided through the Customer Service Centre include:
• License applications, renewal payments and enquiries.
• Applications for birth, death and marriage certificates and related enquiries.
• Change of name applications
• Bond lodgements and refunds.
• Tenancies and consumer affairs advice.
“Consumer and Business Services provides advice and services that are essential to the operation of local businesses and personal matters, creating a high demand on the Department’s resources,” Mr Rau said.
“All of the key face to face services are now in the one place, with staff trained across multiple services, saving individuals and business time and money.
“There has been a lot of work to make more consumer and business services online.
“In mid 2012, there was the introduction of online renewals for occupational licences. Since then, approximately one quarter of renewals due each month are now paid online.”
The CBS Customer Service Centre is located at street level, Chesser House, 91 Grenfell Street. Operating hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.
