South Australia's landmark liquor licensing reforms to better regulate online delivery of alcohol have passed state parliament.

The bill was introduced in response to South Australia’s historic Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence.

The bill restricts same day delivery of alcohol to between 10am and 10pm and introduces a minimum two-hour safety pause between the placing of any online liquor order and its delivery.

In addition, the Liquor Licensing Act has been amended to reflect the intent of the law to minimise both the harm and potential for harm caused by excessive or inappropriate alcohol consumption.

South Australia is the first state to take action and introduce important safeguards for the delivery of alcohol into the home.
