CONSUMER & BUSINESS ADVICE
Public Warnings
10 July 2019

South Australia’s consumer watchdog is warning the public against dealing with a Campbelltown-based man advertising washing machine repairs following complaints of unsatisfactory services.

Commissioner for Consumer Affairs Dini Soulio said Consumer and Business Services had received reports that Mr Ryan Torabi – trading as ‘Five Star Washer Repairs’ – had accepted payments for repair services to washing machines but had failed to complete the repairs, return the washing machines, or refund consumers.

“We’ve received several complaints from consumers about unsatisfactory or incomplete work, who have also alleged that Torabi has refused to engage further with them,” Mr Soulio said.

“Torabi has failed to attend compulsory conciliation conferences convened by Consumer and Business Services to try to resolve these issues.

“Given a number of consumers have been affected and there are concerns about Torabi’s practices, we believe the public should be warned against dealing with him.”

The public warning notice has been issued under section 48 of the Fair Trading Act.

Mr Soulio encouraged anyone with concerns about their dealings with Torabi to contact CBS on 131 882.
